Marine Debris Material
Marine debris plastic is a mixture of plastic pollutants that have been collected from the environment, cleaned, sorted by colour and ground into smaller pieces. Exposure to UV, water and salt, to name a few, cause a change in the properties of the plastics. Combined with the fact that it is a mixture of plastic polymers, it also poses a challenge for continual manipulation.
Marine debris is “any persistant, manufactured or processed solid material discarded, disposed of, or abandoned in the marine and coastal environment.” —UN Environment Program,
